The one that started it all. 1994 Sportster Chopper

This was our first chopper build. We started with somebody else's project from marketplace. The guy had torn the bike apart and welded on a TC Bros hardtail kit. The rest of the bike was a basketcase. Engine cases were oxidized so we torn that down and had them vapor blasted. Then the engine went to Engine & Frame in Richmond where it was completely rebuilt with 10 over pistons, all new bearings, and Andrews N4 cams.
While the engine was being built I modified a stock sporty gas tank by cutting out the flat portion on the top of the tank and welding in a domed section with the fill in the middle. Then proceeded to replace the bottom with our own tunnel and flat bottom. I then molded in the rear mount of the tank. Barry from Depth of Image for some House of Colors pearl and scallops.
I cut the downtubes and made the frame 4" up. Shaved the 39mm front end lower legs and had the whole front end including the trees chromed. The chroming was a nightmare. Dude originally said 8 weeks and 16 weeks later I finally had my parts. They didn't work any of them that they were supposed to. Afterwards I laced up the chromed 21" wheel with new Buchanan's.
The oil tank was the biggest hurdle to overcome on this build as I couldn't quite decide on how I wanted it. It needed to flow well with the bike but also provide mounts for the electrics and battery. My first go at the oil tank worked but also didn't. The notch for the chain wasn't enough so the chain was digging in a bit laterally. I built a new tank out of aluminum with a much bigger notch. This fixed the issue and also allowed me to work on my aluminum sheet metal fab skills.
